Big Screen Entertainment Group (OTC:BSEG) has optioned a new comedy from writer, director Olivia DeLaurentis entitled "This Gets Ruff."
The story is about an ex-child TV star, who has to face her past when an obsessed fan kidnaps her and the rest of the cast, and makes them recreate the show in his basement. DeLaurentis will direct and star.
Olivia DeLaurentis won the Women in Film Promise in Television Award and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Mike Wallace Memorial Scholarship. She is a 2018 graduate of UCLA's Screenwriting Program. Olivia has been writing and directing since she was 12 years old and her films have screened all over the country. BSEG's Kimberley Kates will produce along with Michael Manasseri who will also act in a mentorship role. This will be Olivia's first feature after directing a number of short films. "We are really excited to work with Olivia. She's smart, funny and extremely talented. Her writing is fresh and hilarious," said Kates.
Both Kates and Manasseri come from a comedy background. Kates acted in the iconic film "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" along with Olivia's mom, Diane Franklin both playing the Princesses. She's gone on to produce several comedies, including Jenny McCarthy's "Dirty Love" and the Raquel Welch comedy "Forget About It." Manasseri starred in "License to Drive" and the 90's TV show "Weird Science."
